Milson's Point - A Quick Guide

At only 10 minutes away from the city, on the lower North Shore of Sydney is the little suburb Milson’s Point. Filled with old style beautiful homes, churches and schools this charming part of the town is a must see. Milson’s Point is a popular destination for both locals and visitors and it’s easy to understand why. Along the harbourside, you can enjoy the stunning views of the city's South side with the Opera House being front and centre.

Things to Do

Milson's Point offers not just stunning views but there are also several activities to participate in. The main thing people notice when they arrive at Milson's Point is how epic the Sydney Harbour Bridge is, and how inviting Bradfield Park is, which sits underneath it. This dog friendly park is great to have a picnic or a BBQ and there's plenty of space and several picnic benches at the top end of the park.

If you’re in a adventurous mood, you can climb Harbour Bridge but you'll have to take a trip to the South side - book yourself in with Bridge Climb for one of the best views in the city. For this full panoramic view we advise you to go at dusk in order to see the city light up; it's really quite magical.

Another major attraction at Milson's Point is Luna Park. This historical amusement park is a great day out; enjoy the rides, the games, the fun atmosphere and there are plenty of food options there too. Entry into the park is free so you can just go for a walk around, otherwise see Luna Park ticket pricing and information.

Milson's Point has quite a few cafes and restaurants in the area. If you want to take away a light bite then try either Side Part Cafe for a coffee and treat, or nice sandwich or salad if you want a healthy option. Another popular option is the Flaky Tart Bakery for pies, milkshakes, and other sweet treats. For a great sit down option Ripples is wonderful; quite affordable but with a priceless view - view their menu. For fine dining one of the best options would be Aqua Dining; a contemporary Italian restaurant right above the North Sydney Olympic Pool. (check out our take on Aqua Dining)

There are public toilets situation at the top end of Bradfield park. There are a few convenient stores around the area also.

Getting there

Milson’s Point is an area very well connected by public transport.

By Train: If you’re coming by train you can take the T1 North Shore Line, Northern Line or Western Line and the T6 Carlingford Line.

By Ferry: From Circular Quay which gets to Milson’s Point Wharf in just 5 minutes.

By Bus: The 227, 230 (for North side) and the 243, 249 (for cross city) which stop at Alfred St right under the bridge.

Parking

If you’re coming by car, you can go to the Kirribilli Club Parking ($12 for 2 hours) or the Luna Park parking ($16 for 2 hours). There is also free street parking around the area.

For just something quick to do, an afternoon trip or a full day out, Milson's Point is a great option and in a very convenient location.
