Crocodiles are the world's largest reptile; they are great survivors dating back over 240 million years to their ancestors in the Triassic period. They are cold blooded and have a body temperature similar to the surrounding air, land or water. Since they lack a reptilian thermostat, the freshwater crocodile seeks warm water and temperature all year round, hence you will find them all around in Queensland, Darwin and Western Australia.
