Looking Glass Bay Wharf

Looking Glass Bay Wharf

Nestled away about halfway up the north shore of Parramatta River, Looking Glass Bay Wharf is a picturesque little wharf that can be a good option for pick up and drop off for groups based in Gladesville and the surrounding areas. More of a jetty than a wharf per se, Looking Glass Bay Wharf is a quiet spot with relatively low water-based traffic, but also lacks some of the basic amenities you can find at other Sydney Harbour wharfs. If you would like to arrange for your cruise to start here, when you book your boat hire through Ucruise Sydney, be sure to ask our team if there are any restrictions in place. If your group has any special access requirements, we can recommend a more suitable nearby wharf.

Choosing Looking Glass Bay Wharf for Your Cruise Pick Up

Of all the wharfs available on Parramatta River, Looking Glass Bay Wharf is among the smallest, quietest and most hidden away. In fact, you'll struggle to find it on Google Maps! Located at the end of Bedlam Point, in Banjo Paterson Park, this little wharf consists of a wooden jetty and a small covered boarding platform that can fit about ten people at a time. As such, this is perhaps not the best choice of wharf for larger groups or larger vessels. If peace and quiet is what you're after, though, it could be a great choice.

Getting to Looking Glass Bay Wharf

Accessibility could be a bit of a stumbling block at Looking Glass Bay Wharf. It's tricky to get to on public transport, especially if you're carrying your cruise supplies around with you. The nearest buses stop along Victoria Road (several 500 services), with the nearest stops being by the Gladesville Police Station (about a 10-minute walk through the park). The wharf isn't visited by any public ferries either, so if you're arriving by water, you'll need to grad a water taxi. Parking is very limited in the immediate vicinity, with some on-street parking available outside the park but no secure parking until you're back in central Gladesville which is a good 30 minutes walk away.

Local Amenities

Central Gladesville will cover most of your boat hire supplies, with stores and bottleshops selling everything from ice to sunblock. That said, you'll have to factor in a 30 minute walk each way if you need to pick something up last minute, so we'd recommend making sure you have everything planned out in advance of your pick up. Banjo Paterson park is a beautiful little spot to meet up in, although it doesn't have any public toilets and there aren't any nearby cafés or restaurants either.
