Balmain Wharf, also known as Thames Street Wharf, is one of the busiest wharfs on the Balmain Peninsula, located West of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Middle Harbour. When you book your Sydney Harbour boat hire with Ucruise Sydney, you can specify a Balmain Wharf pick up for the majority of our vessels. Just be sure to tell our staff about any special requirements your group may have and we'll be happy to set it up or offer alternatives.
Choosing Balmain Wharf for Your Cruise Pick Up
Thanks to its location close to central Balmain, Balmain Wharf is a good choice for pick up and drop off for groups who mostly live in the area or in areas serviced by the F8 or F3 ferries. Balmain's also easy enough to get to from further afield areas such as Summer Hill or Ashbury, but for people based in northern Sydney or out in Manly, there are probably more convenient options available in the CBD.
Getting to Balmain Wharf
Getting to Balmain Wharf by ferry is easy thanks to frequent visits from the F3 and F8 services that cover the area between Circular Quay, Cockatoo Island and Chiswick further up Parramatta River. If you're arriving by public transport overland, however, you'll have to factor in around a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stops in central Balmain (services include the 433, 442 and 445). For groups looking to get to the wharf by car, please bear in mind that the nearest secure car park is also in central Balmain, and that day-long parking in the immediate vicinity of the wharf is often limited. Balmain Wharf has bike racks available.
With the main drag of Balmain not that far away, there are plenty of options available for things to do while you wait for your cruise or places to pick up last minute supplies like ice or sunblock (and there's always that one mate who forgets his cossie!). Balmain Wharf is also right next to the pleasant Mort Bay Park where you can sit and watch the world go by as you wait for your group to gather. It's worth noting that Transport for NSW also classifies Balmain Wharf as an Independent Access wharf, meaning there are facilities for wheelchair uses and other accessibility features.
